And there's no way to make your fingertips more solid! I've even got several layers of tape down the left hand side of my mouse but it hasn't restricted the sensitivity at all as far as I can see. There is no way to reduce the sensitive area of the mouse and no way to reduce its sensitivity.

But it causes the scrolling to happen and it's impossible to stop it.
#WINDOWS MAC KEYBOARD EXCEL SCROLL SKIN#
This is what skin does it's essentially a soft substance. As you carefully press down on the surface to select something, your skin spreads slightly and/or your finger rolls very very slightly on the surface of the mouse. But their value is completely outweighed by the excessive sensitivity. Making the whole area sensitive, allows for two-finger and three-finger actions. I can understand why Apple has done this. Left and right are best kept for left-click and right-click. You need the centre area (top to bottom) to scroll. This means that a touch anywhere (top, bottom, left, right or centre) will scroll whatever the pointer is over. The magic mouse has a smooth surface and is touch sensitive over its whole area. I should add that I'm running Windows 10 under Parallels 13 so it's actually a virtual machine run by Mac OS. Working on a video in iMovie under High Sierra is similarly difficult for the same reason. By way of example, working on a video in Windows is very difficult because when you try to select a clip, the timeline flies to the right or left, or zooms in or out (depending on what you're doing). The slightest touch on any part of the surface of the mouse causes scrolling. Hi Loner T, the problem is absolutely everywhere.
